Caldwell Fellows Day of Giving Recap
"Thank you" to everyone that made our 2023 Day of Giving a big success.
The Caldwell Fellows continued a tradition of engaged philanthropy on NC State’s 2023 Day of Giving. The day brought together five decades of Caldwell Fellows alumni and friends, as more than 250 individual donors stepped up to help raise more than $130,000 for NC State’s oldest merit scholarship and servant-leadership development program.
As heard in this video testimonial, the Caldwell Fellows program changes lives by providing financial support and leadership programming for NC State students selected to participate in an intensive four-year program dedicated to their development and psychological growth. Alumni of the program go on to lead companies, protect North Carolina’s coastal communities, manage newspapers, and ‘Think Big’ in the spirit of the program’s namesake, former NC State Chancellor John T. Caldwell.
We were delighted by the support of our challenge gift donors this year who made contributions to help motivate others to give throughout the day. For example, Tim Holbrook `93 pledged a $5,000 gift when the program reached 100 unique donors on the day.
I owe the Caldwell Fellows almost everything in terms of my personal and professional development. It surrounded this small-town Ohio boy with brilliant, diverse, and talented people who challenged me. They did so not to break me down but instead to build me up with compassion, understanding, and plenty of gut-busting laughter. My class of Caldwell Fellows has been “my people” ever since. Other high-impact Day of Giving gifts to the program included $7,500 when 40 or more Caldwell Fellows parents made donations and an additional $10,000 when 55 first-time donors made a contribution, in our of our 55th anniversary!
