Celebrate Caldwell Fellows community – Meet the challenge
There are special challenge hours throughout the Day of Giving when your participation can unlock bonus funds for the Caldwell Fellows program and show the strength of our community.
The challenges
📍 Caldwell Fellows Dollar-for-Dollar Match – $50,000 Make a gift any time throughout the day, and an anonymous couple will give a dollar-for-dollar match up to $50,000 to support Caldwell Fellows.
📍 Caldwell Fellows 500 Gifts Challenge – $3,000 This is the moment to rally for the Caldwell Fellows! When the program receives 500 gifts, it will unlock a $3,000 challenge gift from the Caldwell Fellows Day of Giving Advisory Team.
Community schedule
📍 2:00 – 3:00 a.m. EST – Out-of-State Challenge Unlock bonus funds through alumni participation outside North Carolina. Calling on West Coast and European alumni to help lead the way.
📍3:00 – 4:00 p.m. EST – Student Hour & University Priorities Two chances to unlock $1,000 bonus funds – Most student gifts and Most total gifts. Student celebration in the Caldwell Fellows Office.
📍6:00 – 7:00 p.m. EST – Alumni Zoom Call (Registration link below.) Featuring Pat Lee (Director of NCSU Merit Awards Emeritus) and Dr. Jerry Barker (First Caldwell Fellows Wilderness Trip Leader). Prizes include Best Photo, Oldest NC State T-shirt or sweatshirt, Funniest NC State student ID, Best International Trip Story, Best Wilderness Trip Survival Story, and Best Merit Awards Interview Weekend Story.
📍8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EST – Young Alumni Zoom Call & Challenge Hour (Registration link below.) Hosted by Janice Odom, Chester Brewer, and young alumni leaders (Classes 2015–Present). Prizes include Best NC State Trivia Knowledge, Best Global Perspectives Trip Story, Best Wilderness Trip Story, and Oldest NC State T-shirt or sweatshirt.
Gifts of all levels help strengthen the Caldwell Fellows Program, and donors giving $1,000 or more annually are recognized in the NC State Chancellor’s Circle.
The following examples are provided for illustrative purposes only and represent typical ways gifts at various levels can support the program.
$24,000 underwrites the cost for the monthly dinner seminar Series for an academic year.
$15,000 underwrites CCL mentorship training for alumni mentors.
$10,000 supports the first-year class retreat.
$5,000 supports the sophomore leadership class (including assessments and service-learning components).
$1,000 supports leadership training for student team and committee leads.
$500 supports expenses to host an out-of-town speaker for a leadership seminar.
$175 supports a student’s participation in their senior retreat.
