We are excited to announce the Caldwell Fellows theme for our 2017-18 academic year – the Creative Process! A banner created by Caldwell Fellows, Sam Linville and Amanda Crawford, was unveiled at our first dinner seminar of the year on August 20. Twelve teams have been established in which the participants will delve into a creative endeavor throughout the year. Events will vary depending on the team and may include attending performances and demonstrations and definitely participating in the chosen craft. The teams include culinary, photography, documentary filmmaking, experiential music, dance, bookmaking (bookbinding/journaling), language/creative writing, metalsmithing, pottery, woodturning and theatre/comedy. Partnerships with the Crafts Center and Rave catering at NC State are just two of the collaborations developing. A video created by Fellow, Jacob Sebastian, will give you a sneak peek.
Caldwell alum, Lisbeth Arias, Class of 2015 featured:
“We’re living in a time where there’s so much fear and hate. People are afraid of people and they’re scared to talk to each to other. So I’m using fashion as my voice, a voice. I want people to wear a Descalza skirt or tie and get compliments. I want those compliments to create conversations. And I want those conversations to alleviate any fear anyone ever had.”
Caldwell Information Sessions! During Wolfpack Welcome Week the Caldwell Fellows will hold two back-to-back information sessions on Monday, August 14 from 10-11am and 11am-12pm in Witherspoon Student Center Room 201.
