Donations toward our shack were accepted until October 3 and put us at #1 status for fundraising with $7993.00 raised! Go to this link to see the results of this wonderful effort to provide homes in Raleigh for 11 families (the NC State Build-a-block campaign.)
Watch a time lapse video by Caldwell Fellow, Jacob Sebastian, of the construction of the shack.
Here’s what happens when the candidates for the biggest job in the land debate about a very important local subject!
Sunday, September 18 began several weeks of fundraising for a worthy cause – building a block of Habitat homes in Raleigh! This effort is coordinated by NC State. 40 teams built shacks on Sunday, and lived in them Monday through Friday of that week 24/7 to raise funds and awareness. The Caldwell Fellows have always been in the top three in fundraising and #1 in 2016.
CITIZENSHIP: The word evokes a wide range of feelings and images.
What does it mean to us? A community with the privilege of higher education. A diverse community in the US, a part of the global community of 2016. A community of thoughtful people, discerning our ethical base within a major election year. Individuals within a democracy.
Where we go with our program theme this year will depend on what you bring to the table. Our dinner team has already been at work, musing how to structure experiences that will evoke our expanded and deepened perspective. They have already teased our thought with the theme launch video at dinner last Sunday and with copies now in hand for us all of the US Constitution.
Your involvement and honest perspective is urged.
Such is the work of democracy. Let’s live it out, shall we..?
Make note, if you haven’t already, of fall dinner dates; all are Sundays in Talley.
