A Caldwell State of Mind

As the 2013-2014 year drew to a close, we gathered for a final group dinner seminar at the end of March. We hosted a panel of three Caldwell Alumni who had taken the spirit and ethos of the Caldwell Program, and John T. Caldwell himself, beyond their time at NC State. Many more Caldwell alumni were present to share their experiences with the new class of Caldwells (2017) and the current classes of 2014, ’15 and ’16.

An unlikely teacher

Growing up in Greenville, N.C., Patrick White was struck by how hard his mom worked as a middle school science teacher. So when he went off to study chemistry and math at NC State, he had no interest in teaching as a possible career.

“I thought the last thing I would do was be a teacher,” he says. Read more
